NISP GOES CHARTER
NISP achieved charter status in March 2007, followed by a
successful application for the right to award individual
chartered status to members and professional status also to
corporate members.
As Nigeria's leading health and safety professional body, the
Institute shall, among other things, do the following:
- conduct examinations and award certificates and
diplomas, as well as advise on matters relating to
qualifications for the practice of safety management in
Nigeria.
- conduct research into all aspects of safety management.
- establish and maintain a register of persons entitled to
practice as Safety Professionals in Nigeria.
- have powers to regulate the practice of safety
management in Nigeria.
No firms or persons may practice as Safety Professionals in
Nigeria unless they have been registered by the Institute.
To sustain the new status, NISP has a team of tried and
tested freelance HSE experts who can show and prove that they
can make the positive difference. Believe me, this is the time
to promote our professionalism and emphasize the good that we
can do, no more time for complacency.
